Change Oil Soon

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the CHANGE OIL SOON message in the driver information center (DIC) when the engine control module (ECM) determines that the engine oil needs to changed. The ECM sends a serial data message to the IPC requesting the display of CHANGE OIL SOON message. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting .
