Installation Procedure

  1. If necessary, perform the following steps:

  3. Install a NEW cylinder head gasket.

  5. Carefully install the cylinder head with the exhaust manifold to the engine. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal - Right .

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  7. Install the wiring harness conduit to the cylinder head.

    Tighten:  Tighten the wiring harness upper bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the wiring harness ground to the front of the cylinder head.

    Tighten:  Tighten the cylinder head front ground bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  11. Install the wiring harness ground to the rear of the cylinder head.

    Tighten:  Tighten the cylinder head rear ground bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  12. Install the right bank secondary timing chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement - Right .
  13. Install the exhaust crossover pipe. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (RPOs L26/L32) or Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (RPO LY7) in Engine Exhaust.
  14. Install the assembled powertrain module to the vehicle. Refer to Engine Replacement .
  15. Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement - Lower .
