Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the cover from the engine control module (ECM) and transmission control module (TCM).
  3. IMPORTANT: Use care not to damage connector retaining levers.

  4. Remove the electrical harness connector from the TCM.
  5. NOTE: Control module damage may result when the metal case contacts battery voltage. DO NOT contact the control module metal case with battery voltage when servicing a control module, using battery booster cables or when charging the vehicles battery.
  6. Press the retaining tab (1) in order to release the TCM from the under hood junction block bracket.
  7. Remove the TCM (2) from the under hood junction block bracket.
