Fuel Tank Draining

Tools Required 

J 45004  Fuel Tank Siphon Hose. See Special Tools .

IMPORTANT: Purge any residual fuel in J 45004  into an approved container prior to use. See Special Tools .

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the fuel fill cap.
  3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Loosen the fuel fill pipe clamp (2).
  5. Remove the fuel fill pipe from the fuel tank.
  6. Insert the J 45004  hose into the tank. See Special Tools .
  7. Attach the J 45004  hose to the hose used with the hand or air operated pump devise. See Special Tools .
  8. Using a hand or air operated pump drain as much fuel from the tank as possible.
