Circuit/System Testing

- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the TC vane position sensor.
- Ignition OFF, allow sufficient time for the control module to power down. This can be verified by a loss of communication between the control module and the scan tool.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 ohms of resistance between the low reference B and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal A and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
- Verify the scan tool TC Vane Position Sensor parameter is less than 2 percent.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal C and the 5-volt reference circuit terminal A. Verify the scan tool TC Vane Position Sensor parameter is greater than 98 percent.
- If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
- If all circuits test normal, test the TC vane position sensor. Refer to Component Testing for instructions.
