Change Engine Oil/Low Oil Level

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the change engine oil indicator or the low oil level indicator as determined by the powertrain control module (PCM). The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM requesting the illumination of the change engine oil indicator or the low oil level indicator. The IPC utilizes the same indicator to display a change engine oil request or a low oil level condition. The change engine oil indicator when illuminated is solid and the low oil level indicator when illuminated flashes. Once the oil is changed, perform the engine oil monitor reset procedure in order to clear the Change Engine Oil indicator. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting .
