Test Description
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
The numbers below refer to step numbers on diagnostic table.
- 2: A static shift test is performed by shifting into all gear positions with engine not operating. While performing test, slowly move shift lever. Feel for proper movement of shift lever and transmission internal shift components.
- 4: A dynamic shift test is performed by shifting into all gear positions with engine operating. Test for correct mesh of synchronizers sleeve and speed gear selector teeth. Move shift lever, and feel for synchronizer sleeve to release form gear, and then let up on clutch pedal. Depress clutch pedal and move shift lever to re-engage gear, to ensure full travel of shift components.
- 5: This step inspects for worn or damaged transmission or engine mounts. Loose mounts may cause a shock on transmission allowing for gear disengagement.
- 6: This step inspects for misalignment of clutch to transmission. Misalignment may put a bind on input shaft, allowing for input shaft or mainshaft to tip.
- 8: This step inspects pilot bearing and pilot bearing journal on input shaft. A worn pilot bearing or input shaft may allow input shaft to tip, causing gear disengagement.
