Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 GMC Sierra, 2010 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2010 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2010 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: You must perform the Circuit/System Verification before proceeding with Circuit/System Testing.
  1. With the ignition ON, disconnect the KR75 powertrain relay and observe with the scan tool for loss of communication.
    • If the scan tool can still communicate with the vehicle, test the ignition voltage circuit supplied by the powertrain relay for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 ECM.
  2. With the ignition OFF, probe the relay control circuit terminal 87 at the underhood electrical center with a test lamp connected to B+.
    • If the test lamp illuminates, test the relay control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 ECM.
  3. Ignition ON, probe the relay control circuit terminal 86 at the underhood electrical center with a test lamp connected to ground.
    • If the test lamp illuminates, test the relay control circuit for a short to voltage.
  4. If all circuits test normal, replace the KR75 powertrain relay.
