Front Output Shaft Seal Replacement

CAUTION: Do not damage the sealing surfaces of the transfer cases or the shafts when prying the seals for removal. Damaging the sealing surface may cause leakage or require replacement of the damaged component. Preliminary Procedures Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle . Remove the transfer case shield, if equipped. Refer to Transfer Case Shield Replacement . Remove the front propeller shaft. Refer to Front Propeller Shaft Replacement .
1	Transfer Case Output Shaft Seal Procedure Remove the seal using an appropriate tool. Install the seal using J 8092: handle and J 43484: installer. Special Tools J 8092: Drive Handle J 43484: Front Output Shaft Seal Installer

Preliminary Procedures

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
Remove the transfer case shield, if equipped. Refer to Transfer Case Shield Replacement .
Remove the front propeller shaft. Refer to Front Propeller Shaft Replacement .

Transfer Case Output Shaft Seal

Procedure

Remove the seal using an appropriate tool.
Install the seal using J 8092: handle and J 43484: installer.
