NOTE: Do not damage the sealing surfaces of the transfer cases or the shafts when prying the seals for removal. Damaging the sealing surface may cause leakage or require replacement of the damaged component. Preliminary Procedure: Remove the rear propeller shaft. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement .
1	Transfer Case Output Shaft Seal Procedure Remove the seal using an approprate tool. Install the seal with the notch at the top and the weep hole at the bottom. Tip: Use the appropriate seal installer depending on application. Special Tools DT-48021 Seal Installer (Heavy Duty) DT-48210 Seal Installer (Light Duty) J 8092 Drive Handle

Procedure

Remove the seal using an approprate tool.
Install the seal with the notch at the top and the weep hole at the bottom.
