Average Fuel Economy
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Average fuel economy is calculated using the equation: AFE = Distance/Fuel
- Distance = The accumulated distance travelled since the last reset of this value
- Fuel = The accumulated fuel consumption since the last reset of this value
The IPC calculates AFE based on fuel and distance data sent on serial data circuit from the ECM. The value of this mode is retained during ignition OFF and can be changed between English and Metric units by selecting from the DIC trip/fuel information switch.
