Engine Oil Life Remaining

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac CTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Engine Oil Life Remaining displays the estimated percentage of oil life remaining. The engine control module (ECM) sends the oil life remaining data to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) via serial data message. The driver information center (DIC) displays the current percentage of the GM Oil Life System as determined by the ECM. When the engine oil life remaining percentage drops below a pre-determined value, the DIC displays CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message. When the engine oil is changed, reset the GM Oil Life System. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting .
