Crankshaft Balancer Removal (RPO HP2)

Tools Required

• J 41816  Crankshaft Balancer Remover. See Special Tools .
• J 41816-2  Crankshaft End Protector. See Special Tools .
• J 46093  Rotor and Flex Plate Holding Tool. See Special Tools .

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
IMPORTANT:
• On vehicles equipped with RPO HP2, the crankshaft balancer MUST be removed prior to Removing the electric drive unit from the rear of the engine.
• Do not use the crankshaft balancer bolt again. Install a NEW crankshaft balancer bolt during final assembly.

1. Install the J 46093  (1) and bolts. See Special Tools .

   The flange of the tool should locate into the hole in the flex plate.

   Use 2 M10 - 1.5 x 40 mm bolts for proper tool operation.

   Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

2. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt.

   Do not discard the crankshaft balancer bolt. The balancer bolt will be used during the balancer installation procedure.

3. Use the J 41816  and the J 41816-2  in order to remove the crankshaft balancer. See Special Tools .
4. Remove the J 46093  and bolts. See Special Tools .
