Intake Manifold Disassemble

  1. Remove the nuts, the studs, and the accelerator control cable bracket.

  3. Remove the throttle body attaching studs.

  5. Remove the throttle body.
  6. Remove the throttle body to upper intake manifold gasket.
  7. Discard the throttle body to upper intake manifold gasket.

  9. Remove the water outlet studs.
  10. Remove the water outlet (309).
  11. Remove the engine coolant thermostat.

  13. Remove the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor plug (1) or the ECT sensor (2) from the front of the lower intake manifold, if equipped.

  15. Remove the studs and the ignition coil.

  17. Remove the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor.
  18. Remove the MAP sensor seal from the MAP sensor.
  19. Discard the MAP sensor seal.

  21. Remove the fuel pipe bolt (509).
  22. Remove the fuel service port cap (751) and schreder valve (752), if required.
  23. Remove the fuel pipe retainer nuts (510).
  24. Remove the fuel pipe retainer (753).
  25. Remove the fuel pipe (700, 749).
  26. Remove the fuel pipe plug (750), if required.
  27. Remove and discard the fuel seal retainers (511).
  28. Remove and discard the fuel seals (512), yellow O-rings.
  29. Remove and discard the spacer rings (513), flat washers.
  30. Remove and discard the fuel seals (514), black O-rings.

  32. Remove the studs and the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve.
  33. Remove the nut and the engine wiring harness bracket.

  35. Remove the upper intake manifold attaching studs.
  36. Remove the upper intake manifold.
  37. Remove the upper intake manifold to lower intake manifold gasket.
  38. Discard the upper intake manifold to lower intake manifold gasket.

    IMPORTANT: During the removal of the fuel injector assembly, the retainers that hold the injectors into the intake manifold may become worn. This is OK. Upon installation of the upper intake manifold, the injectors will be held fully seated, thus keeping them from backing out of the lower intake manifold.
  40. Remove the fuel meter body seal and discard.
  41. Remove the 6 injectors from the lower intake manifold bores.
  42. Remove the fuel meter body.
  43. Remove the bolt and the fuel meter body bracket.
