Front Housing Disassemble

Tools Required

    IMPORTANT: Only remove the shift shaft bushing if the bushing is faulty.
  1. Using the J 36800  (2) and J 23907  (1), remove the shift shaft front housing bushing.

    IMPORTANT: Discard all bushings removed during this procedure.

  3. Using J 36507  (2) and the J 36190  (1), remove the 2 detent lever bushings. See Special Tools .
    • Remove 1 bushing at a time.
    • Remove the bushing through the shift shaft bearing bore.
  4. Inspect the countershaft front bearing race.
  5. Using a suitable blind hole puller and a slide hammer, remove the front countershaft bearing race.

  6. Using a punch and hammer, remove the input shaft bearing from the clutch housing.

  7. If necessary, remove the vent from the front housing. The vent can be removed with a pair of pliers.
