Front Housing Assemble

Tools Required
- J 25070 Heat Gun. See Special Tools .
- J 36190 Driver Handle
- J 36507 Detent Bushing Remover and Installer. See Special Tools .
- J 36511 Oil Fill and Drain Plug Hex Bit - 17 mm. See Special Tools .
- J 36798 Shift Rail Bushing Staking Tool. See Special Tools .
- Using a brass drift, install the input shaft bearing in the clutch housing.
- Using the J 36798 (2) with the bushing side against the bushing and the J 36190 (1), install the shift shaft bushing in the clutch housing.
- Using the J 36798 with the staking side against the bushing and the J 36190 , stake the bushing in place. See Special Tools .
- Using the J 36507 (2) and the J 36190 (1), install the inner shift shaft detent bushing to the second mark on the J 36507 . See Special Tools .
- Using the J 36507 (2) and the J 36190 (1), install the outer shift shaft detent bushing to the first mark on the J 36507 . See Special Tools .
- Install the transmission vent.
- Using the J 36511
install the oil fill plug. See Special Tools .
Apply pipe sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent to the drain plug threads.
Tighten: Tighten the fill plug to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Using the J 36511
, install the oil drain plug. See Special Tools .
Apply pipe sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent to the drain plug threads.
Tighten: Tighten the drain plug to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Using the J 25070 , heat the clutch housing front countershaft bearing bore for ten minutes. See Special Tools .
- Using a suitable bearing installing tool, install the front countershaft bearing in the clutch housing.
