Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 GMC Sierra, 2007 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2007 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: Perform the Repair Verification after performing the Circuit/System Testing.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the EGT sensor 1.
  2. Ignition OFF, for 90 seconds. Test for less than 5 ohms of resistance between the low reference circuit terminal B and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
  3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool EGT Sensor 1 parameter is greater than 998°C (1,828°F).
    • If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit terminal A for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
  4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and a good ground. Verify the scan tool EGT parameter is less than -39°C (-38°F).
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the sensor.
