Removal Procedure

WARNING: Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT CAUTION .
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable(s). Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the right knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Right .
  3. Remove the body control module (BCM). Refer to BODY CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT .
  4. Disable the SIR system. Refer to ZONE 3 and ZONE 5 .
  5. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Left .
  6. Remove the left knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left .
  7. Remove the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT .
  8. Remove the instrument panel I/P cluster trim plate bezel. Refer to Trim Plate Bezel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster .
  9. Remove the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
  10. Remove the left hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to TRIM REPLACEMENT -- HINGE PILLAR .
  11. Remove the right hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to TRIM REPLACEMENT -- HINGE PILLAR .
  12. Remove the right knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Right .
  13. Remove the passenger side SIR module. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (PASSENGER-SIDE) .
  14. Remove the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) .
  15. Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER REPLACEMENT .
  16. Remove the radio and mounting bracket, if equipped. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT .
  17. Remove the I/P compartment, if equipped. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) .
  18. Remove the heater and the A/C control. Refer to HVAC CONTROL ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT .
  19. Remove the steering column wiring harness from the instrument panel carrier.
  20. Remove the bolts that retain the I/P carrier to the vehicle.
  21. Rotate the I/P carrier out and downward in order to gain access to the HVAC ducts and the electrical harness.
  22. Remove the bolts that retain the air ducts to the I/P carrier.
  23. Remove the HVAC air distribution duct from the I/P carrier. Refer to AIR DISTRIBUTOR DUCT REPLACEMENT .
  24. Remove the wiring harness from the I/P carrier.

  26. Remove the I/P carrier from the vehicle.
