Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2003 GMC Savana Special, 2003 GMC Savana Camper Special, 2003 GMC Savana, 2003 Chevrolet RV Cutaway, and 2003 Chevrolet Cutaway.   1. Install the defroster door (2) to the heater assembly (1).

  2. Install the defrost actuator (2) to the heater assembly.
  3. Connect the vacuum hose (1) to the defrost actuator (2).
  4. Install the heater assembly cover.
    CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  5. Install the heater assembly cover retaining screws.

    Tighten 

    Tighten screws to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in).

  6. Install the I/P carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console .
