Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the thermostat housing crossover. Refer to Thermostat Housing Crossover Replacement (LMM) .
  2. Remove the center intake manifold. Refer to Center Intake Manifold Replacement .
  3. Reposition the fuel hose clamp (1) at the fuel return pipe.
  4. Reposition the fuel hose clamp (2) at the fuel injection fuel feed manifold.

  6. Reposition the fuel hose clamp (2) at the fuel injection pump.
  7. Reposition the fuel hose clamp (3) at the fuel injection pump.
  8. Remove the fuel hose (1) from the return pipe and iniection pump.
  9. Remove the fuel hose (4) from the fuel injection fuel feed manifold and injection pump.

  11. Loosen the left fuel rail fuel feed pipe fittings (1).

  13. Remove the left fuel rail fuel feed pipe.

    IMPORTANT: Be careful not to damage any mating surfaces.
  15. Remove the fuel injection pump bolts (1).
  16. Remove the fuel injection pump from the block.

    Use 2 screwdrivers to work the pump from the block towards the rear of engine keeping the pump straight.

  17. The fuel injection pump may need to be rotated in order to remove it from the vehicle.
