Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor .
  3. Remove the sun sensor. Refer to Sun Load Sensor Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  4. Remove the stereo cassette AM/FM radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  5. Remove the center molding.
  6. Remove the instrument cluster dimmer switch assembly.
  7. Remove the instrument cluster trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster (Four Door)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster (Five Door/Wagon) .
  8. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
  9. Remove the glove box and the glove box housing. Refer to Storage Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) .
  10. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .

  12. Remove the screws and the instrument panel (I/P) side covers.
  13. Remove the screw and the I/P fuse block.

  15. Remove the nuts and the bolts securing the steering column.
  16. Disconnect the steering column electrical connector.
  17. Lower the steering column.

  19. Remove bolts and screws.
  20. Remove the connecting pieces.

  22. Remove the bolt securing the middle of the I/P to the body.

  24. Remove the I/P screws behind the glove box brace.

  26. Remove the bolts securing the sides of the I/P to the body.
  27. Disconnect the I/P electrical connectors.
  28. Remove the I/P.
