Draining Procedure

  1. Remove the left front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (5 Lug Wheel) or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (4 Lug wheel) in Tires and Wheels.
  2. Fig 1: Locating Fluid Level Check Plugs

  3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Clean away all dirt and debris from the transmission fluid drain plug area.
  5. Remove the drain plug.
  6. Allow the system to drain.
  7. NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  8. Install the transmission fluid drain plug, using pipe sealant Saturn P/N 21485278 or equivalent on the plug threads.

    Tighten:  Tighten the transmission fluid drain plug to 38 N.m (28 lb ft).
