Installation Procedure

IMPORTANT: Do not use any sealing material.

Install the cylinder head gasket to the block.
Install the cylinder head. Ensure the number 1 cylinder is at top dead center (TDC). The key on the crankshaft should be on top in the 12 o'clock position.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

IMPORTANT: Always use NEW cylinder head bolts.

Install the cylinder head bolts.
Tighten:
- Tighten the bolts in sequence to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Tighten the bolts an additional 155 degrees in sequence using the J 45059 . See Special Tools .

Install the front cylinder head bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the cylinder head bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
