Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Pontiac G5 and 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install a NEW exhaust manifold gasket onto the studs.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold to the engine.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  4. Install NEW exhaust manifold nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts in sequence to 14 N.m (10 lb ft).

  5. Raise and support the vehicle.
  6. Install the catalytic converter assembly. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (L61) .
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the heated oxygen sensor HO2S. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor 1 Replacement .
  9. If equipped with RPO NU3, install the AIR check valve. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Check Valve Replacement .
  10. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  11. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
