Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Pontiac G5 and 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install a NEW gasket onto the exhaust manifold studs.
  2. Install the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold.
    3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  3. Install the exhaust manifold to the catalytic converter nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the catalytic converter nuts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  4. Install a NEW gasket onto the resonator pipe studs.
  5. Install the catalytic converter to the resonator pipe nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the resonator pipe nuts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  6. Install the (HO2S). Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 Replacement .
  7. Install the wheel drive shaft heat shield. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Heat Shield Replacement .
  8. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
