Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Pontiac G5 and 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LE5, L61)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LNF) .

  2. Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp using J 38185  . See Special Tools .
  3. Remove the surge tank inlet hose from the surge tank.

  4. Remove the underhood junction block bracket nuts (1).
  5. Lift the underhood junction block bracket and position away from the surge tank.

  6. Lift the surge tank and reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp using J 38185  . See Special Tools .
  7. Remove the surge tank outlet hose.

  8. Disconnect the coolant level sensor electrical connector.
  9. Remove the surge tank.
