Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Pontiac G5 and 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install a NEW thermostat cover O-ring seal into the recess groove.
  2. Install the thermostat into the housing.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  4. Install the thermostat cover bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the radiator outlet hose (1) to the thermostat housing.
  7. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  8. Fill the cooling system to specifications. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 Fill)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LE5, L61)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LNF) .
