Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Pontiac G5 and 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: Circuit/System Verification must be performed before performing the Circuit/System Testing.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the coolant level switch.
  2. Test for less than 5 ohms of resistance between the ground circuit terminal B and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool coolant level switch parameter reads LOW.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal A for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
  4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and the ground circuit terminal B. Verify the scan tool coolant level switch parameter reads OK.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the coolant level switch.
