Windshield Washer Pump Replacement (Chevrolet)

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the right front fender liner for Chevrolet and the left front fender liner for Pontiac. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the windshield washer pump.
  3. Place a clean suitable container under the windshield washer solvent container and secure any washer solvent loss.
  4. Remove the windshield washer pump hose at the washer pump spout.
1 Windshield Washer Pump

Procedure

  1. Using two small flat-bladed tools, insert the flat blades under each edge of the washer pump.
  2. Pry outward slightly, in order to disengage the washer pump from the washer container.
  3. Remove the windshield washer pump from the container.
  4. Discard the washer pump grommet.
2 Windshield Washer Pump Grommet

Procedure

  1. Install a new washer pump grommet into the washer container.
  2. Lubricate the new grommet using straight windshield washer solvent, undiluted.
  3. Insert the pump into the grommet and apply even pressure on the pump into the container.
  4. Secure the washer hose and electrical connection.
  5. Fill the windshield washer solvent container with clean washer solvent.
