Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Pontiac G5 and 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  2. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT (L61) .
  3. Remove the timing chain. Refer to Camshaft Timing Chain, Sprocket, and Tensioner Replacement .
  4. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 Fill) or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LE5, L61) .

  6. Remove the cylinder head bolts in sequence and discard.

  8. Remove the cylinder head and gasket.
  9. Clean all gasket surfaces.
