Installation Procedure

  1. Install the clutch disc and the clutch cover.
  2. Hand start the clutch cover to flywheel bolts, leaving the clutch cover loose enough to reposition for alignment.

  4. Install the J 43482  in order to support the clutch cover to the flywheel assembly. See Special Tools .

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice.
  6. Tighten the clutch cover to flywheel bolts in the sequence shown.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  7. Recheck each bolt torque using the tightening sequence.
  8. Remove the J 43482  . See Special Tools .
  9. IMPORTANT: Excessive amounts of lubricant on the input shaft splines may contaminate the clutch disc and cause clutch shudder.
  10. Lubricate the inside diameter of the bearing with Saturn P/N 21005995, or equivalent.
  11. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
  12. Bleed the hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding .
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
