Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Front

Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (4 Lug Wheel) or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (5 Lug Wheel) .
  3. Remove the front brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement .
1 Wheel Drive Shaft Retaining Nut
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  110 N.m (81 lb ft)

2 Wheel Speed Sensor Connector
Tip:  If equipped, during removal, note the orientation of the wheel speed sensor pigtail.
3 Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly Bolt (Qty: 3)
NOTE: This is a self-retaining fastener joint that does not require thread locking compounds. Do not attempt to clean the threads with a standard tap. If a standard tap is used, damage to the joint threads will occur.

Tighten:  115 N.m (85 lb ft)

4 Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly
Tip:  In order to disengage the wheel driveshaft from the wheel bearing/hub assembly, use one of the following tools: J 28733-B  Wheel Hub Remover, 7208A Hub remover - OTC, CJ129 Universal Hub Puller - Snap-On, 7394 Universal Hub Puller - OTC. See Special Tools .
5 Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly Spacer
Tip:  Note the orientation of the bearing/hub spacer during removal to aid in installation.
