Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Description and Operation: Speedometer

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays vehicle speed as determined by the powertrain control module (PCM). The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM. The IPC uses the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) data received from the PCM and a software program to determine the proper vehicle speed to display.
