Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  2. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (2.2L Engine) in Engine Exhaust.
  3. Remove the timing chain. Refer to Timing Chain, Sprockets, and/or Tensioner Replacement .
  4. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (L61) in Engine Cooling.

  5. Remove the cylinder head bolts in sequence and discard.

  6. Remove the cylinder head and gasket.
  7. Clean all gasket surfaces.
