Balance Shaft Installation

Tools Required 

J 43650  Balance Shaft Bushing Remover/Installer. See Special Tools .

  1. Install the balance shaft bushing using the J 43650  . See Special Tools .

  3. Seat the balance shaft bushing into the bore using the J 43650  and a wrench. See Special Tools .
  4. When the J 43650  is fully seated in the engine block remove it with a wrench. See Special Tools .

    IMPORTANT: If the balance shafts are not properly timed to the engine, the engine may vibrate or make noise.
    Install the balance shaft assemblies to the engine using the following steps:
  6. Place the number one piston at TDC.
  7. Install the balance shaft drive chain sprocket on the crankshaft.
  8. Lubricate the balance shaft lobes with engine oil.
  9. Install the balance shafts into their bores.
  10. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  11. Install the balance shaft retaining bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the balance shaft retaining bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
