1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Adjust the head up display (HUD) UP, then DOWN.
Does the HUD display adjust properly?
Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the HUD display connector.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the HUD display up circuit and B+ at the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Move the HUD up/down switch to the up position.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 4  Go to Step 5

  1. Connect a test lamp between the HUD display down circuit and B+ at the IPC. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  2. Move the HUD up/down switch to the DOWN position.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 6 
5 Test the HUD display up circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 15  Go to Step 9 
6 Test the HUD display down circuit for an open, a short to ground, or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 15  Go to Step 7 
7 Test the HUD display switch down circuit for an open or high resistance at the HUD switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 15  Go to Step 8 
8 Test the HUD display up circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 15  Go to Step 10 
9 Test the HUD display up circuit for an open or high resistance at the HUD switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 15  Go to Step 10 
10 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the HUD dimmer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 15  Go to Step 11 
11 Replace the HUD dimmer switch. Refer to Switch Replacement - Ignition and Start, DIC Display and HUD Dimmer .
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 15  Go to Step 14 
12 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the HUD display. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 15  Go to Step 13 
13 Replace the HUD display. Refer to Head Up Display Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 15  -
14 Replace the IPC. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 15  -
15 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 2
