Installation Procedure

    IMPORTANT: Do not reuse the valve cover gasket or the valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets.
  1. Install the NEW valve rocker arm cover gasket into the groove of the valve rocker arm cover.
  2. Install the NEW valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets into the valve rocker arm cover.

  3. Install the valve rocker arm cover onto the cylinder head.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  5. Install the air conditioning compressor discharge hose, if equipped. Refer to Discharge Hose Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L ) in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  6. Install the air conditioning compressor suction hose, if equipped. Refer to Suction Hose Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.

  7. Connect the spark plug wires to the distributor cap.
  8. Install the ECT gage sensor electrical connector to the bracket.
  9. Connect the ECT gage sensor electrical connector.

  10. Install the PCV hose to the valve rocker arm cover.
  11. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  12. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 4.3L.
