Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    IMPORTANT: Do not remove the crankshaft rear oil seal housing if only replacing the crankshaft rear oil seal.
  1. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
  2. Remove the transmission assembly. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4L60-E.
  3. Remove the engine flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement .

  5. Remove the bolts and the nut holding the crankshaft rear oil seal housing to the engine.
  6. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal housing.

  8. Remove and discard the crankshaft rear oil seal housing gasket.
  9. Clean all the sealing surfaces.
  10. Inspect the crankshaft rear oil seal housing for warping, cracks, wear, or damage.
