Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Suzuki Swift + and 2004 Chevrolet Aveo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Secure the transaxle to the transaxle jack, then carefully position in the vehicle with the transaxle secured in the DW 260-120  (1). See Special Tools and Equipment .

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the 7 lower transaxle-to-engine retaining bolts.

    Tighten: 

    • Tighten the bolts (1) to 73 N.m (54 lb ft).
    • Tighten the bolts (3) to 31 N.m (23 lb ft).
    • Tighten the bolts (2) to 21 N.m (15 lb ft).

  5. Install the 3 upper transaxle-to-engine mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the 3 upper transaxle-to-engine mounting bolts to 73 N.m (54 lb ft).

  7. Install the 3 upper transaxle mounting bracket bolts and the bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the 3 upper transaxle mounting bracket bolts to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).

  9. Install the rear mounting bracket bolts and the bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the rear mounting bracket bolts to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).

  10. Install the damping block connection nut and bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the damping block connection nut and bolt to 80 N.m (59 lb ft).

  12. Install the torque converter bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the torque converter bolts to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).

  13. Install the service hall cover.

  15. Connect the transaxle electrical connector.
  16. Connect the PNP sensor electrical connector.
  17. Connect the OSS sensor electrical connector.
  18. Connect the ISS sensor electrical connector.

  20. Remove the J 28467-B  (1).
  21. Connect the shift control cable into the transaxle. Refer to Shift Control Cable Replacement - Floor Shift .

  23. Connect the fluid cooler inlet and outlet hose into the transaxle.
  24. Install the left and right drive axle assemblies. Refer to Inner Shaft and/or Housing Replacement - Front Drive Axle in Front Drive Axle.
  25. Install the battery and battery tray. Refer to Battery and Battery Tray Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  26. Fill the transaxle with fluid. Refer to Draining Transmission Fluid .
  27. Measure the fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Level Inspection .
