Disassembly Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Suzuki Swift +, 2008 Pontiac Wave, and 2008 Chevrolet Aveo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the wheel hub, bearing, knuckle, and brake shield as an assembly. Refer to Steering Knuckle Replacement .
  3. Use a vise in order to hold the knuckle assembly.
  4. Remove the brake shield. Refer to Front Brake Shield Replacement .

  6. From the front hub service set J-37105-C  (. See Special Tools .CH-46560  ) (DW-340-040), apply extreme pressure lubricant J-23444-A to the threaded rod (4) J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04).
  7. Insert the rod J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04) through the following:
    1. The ball bearing J-217801 (CH-46560-06)
    2. The support bridge (1) J-37105-1 (CH-46560-01) (DW340-040-1)
    3. The hub
    4. The wheel hub replacer adapter (2) DT-47540  (DW340-120-01). See Special Tools .
  8. From either the control arm bushing set J 21474-01  or the front hub service set CH-46560  , install the nut (3) J-21474-4 (CH-46560-05) to the rod J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04). See Special Tools .

  10. Remove the wheel hub from the wheel bearing.
  11. Remove the special tools from the knuckle.
  12. If necessary, use the split plate J 22912-B  , or equivalent, and a hydraulic press in order to remove the bearing race from the hub. See Special Tools .

  14. Remove the retaining ring from the knuckle.

  16. Insert the rod (2) J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04) through the following:
    1. The ball bearing J-217801 (CH-46560-06)
    2. The support bridge (1) J-37105-1 (CH-46560-01) (DW340-040-1)
    3. The wheel bearing
    4. The wheel bearing remover adapter (4) DT-47541  (DW340-120-02). See Special Tools .
  17. Install the nut (3) J-21474-4 (CH-46560-05) to the rod J-36661-2 (CH-46560-04).

  19. Remove the wheel bearing from the knuckle.
  20. Remove the special tools from the knuckle.
  21. Discard the wheel bearing.
  22. Clean the bore of the knuckle.
