Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution .
    CAUTION: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution .
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the right front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the right front splash shield.
  4. Drain the engine oil from the engine crankcase.
  5. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
  6. Remove the catalytic lower flange nuts from the exhaust manifold and remover the bolts at the bracket.

  8. Remove the nuts that secure the front pipe.
  9. Remove the catalytic converter and the exhaust pipe as a unit.

  11. Remove the bolts that secure the oil pan to the transaxle housing.

  13. Remove the bolt that secures the transaxle housing to the oil pan.

  15. Remove the grommet.
  16. Remove the oil pan retaining bolts.
  17. Remove the oil pan from the engine block.
  18. Remove the gasket from the oil pan.
