Timing Belt Inspection

    IMPORTANT: The timing belt should be replaced immediately in the event that defects are found during routine timing belt inspections.

  1. Inspect the belt for hardening. The belt will have a shiny appearance and will leave no mark when a fingernail is pressed into the backside of the belt.

  2. Inspect the belt for tooth separation and cracking on the backside of the belt.

  3. Inspect the belt for abnormal wear and torn areas on the edge of the belt.

  4. Inspect the belt for missing or severely worn teeth and missing rubber or exposed fibers.
