Disassembly Procedure

    Fig 1: Differential Ring Bolts & Ring Gear

  1. Remove the differential assembly. Refer to Transmission Disassemble .
  2. Fix the differential assembly to a vise with protector.
  3. Remove the differential ring bolts (1).
  4. Remove the ring gear (2).

  5. Remove the pinion gear pin (1) using a pin punch and a hammer.

  6. Remove the pinion gear shaft from the case (1).

    IMPORTANT: Remove the pinion gear and the washer by rotating the side gear.
  7. Remove the pinion gears and the washers (1).
  8. Remove the side gears (3).
  9. Remove the adjust shims from the side gears (2).

  10. Remove the differential right side bearing using theDW220-020A-01  (1) and the DW220-020A-02  (2). See Special Tools .
  11. Remove the speedometer drive gear (3).

  12. Remove the differential left side bearing using theDW220-020A-01  (1) and the DW220-020A-03  (2). See Special Tools .
