Cause of Failure

- The wiring harness or connector between the PNP switch and the TCM
- The PNP switch

- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Install the scan tool.
- With the engine OFF, turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Select Store Freeze Frame/Failure Records from the DTC Information menu.
- Store Freeze Frame/Failure Records.
- Select Clear DTC Information from the DTC Information menu.
- Clear the DTC Information.
- Perform 2 vehicle drive cycles.

- Select Request DTC by Status from the DTC Information menu.
- Request DTC by Status.

- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Inspect the continuity between the vehicle harness and the park/neutral position (PNP) switch.
- Disconnect the transmission control module (TCM) connector, of the vehicle harness and test the continuity for each terminal according to the position of the select lever.

Repair the temporary connection failure of the connector. Refer to Wiring Harness and Connector Inspection Diagnosis

- Estimate the failure between the vehicle wiring harness connector and the TCM.
- Inspect the connector. Refer to Wiring Harness and Connector Inspection Diagnosis

- Inspect the connection condition between the TCM connectors.

- Estimate the failure between the vehicle harness and the PNP switch.
- Disconnect the connector of the vehicle harness and test the continuity between the terminals. Refer to Wiring Harness and Connector Inspection Diagnosis

- Replace the TCM. Refer to Transmission Control Module Replacement

- Perform the reproducing test under user condition after confirming no DTC.
