1 Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems 
2 Verify that the high beam indicator is inoperative.
Does the high beam indicator operate normally?
Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Turn the headlamp switch to the HEAD position.
  3. Use the multifunction headlamp dimmer switch to apply the high beams.
Do the headlamps function properly?
Go to Step 4  Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems 
4 Using a scan tool, select IPC, Special Functions, and command the high beam indicator Lamp ON, then OFF.
Does the lamp turn ON and OFF when commanded?
Go to Step 6  Go to Step 5

  1. Inspect for a defective high beam indicator bulb or socket. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Lamp Replacement .
  2. If the bulb and socket is good, replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 7  -
6 Repair the open, or the high resistance in the one of the following components, and refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems:
  • The headlamp dimmer switch
  • The high beam signal circuit
  • The headlamp high beam relay control circuit

Is repair complete?
Go to Step 7  -
7 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 3
