Chime Always On

1 Did you perform the Audible Warnings Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Audible Warnings

  1. Turn the headlamps OFF.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition.
  4. Close all doors.
Does the chime sound?
Go to Step 3  Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems
3 Do any indicators illuminate when the chime sounds? Go to Symptoms - Instrument Panel, Gages and Console  Go to Step 4

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Observe the Key in Ignition parameter in the BCM Input 1 data List.
  3. Insert and remove the key from the ignition.
Does the Key in Ignition parameter change states?
Go to Step 8  Go to Step 5 
5 Test the key in ignition signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 6 
6 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 7 
7 Replace the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 9  -

IMPORTANT: Program the replacement BCM.
Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 9  -
9 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 3
