Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) cluster trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Bezel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster (Impala)  or Trim Plate Bezel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster (Monte Carlo) .
  2. Remove the I/P right upper trim panel. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper .
  3. Remove the garnish moldings from the left and from the right windshield pillar. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Impala) or Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Monte Carlo) in Interior Trim.
  4. Starting at the right side, carefully lift upwards on the defroster grille in order to release the retainers. Continue working to the left side until you have released all of the retainers.
  5. Disconnect the daytime running lamps (DRL) sensor from the defroster grille.
  6. Remove the defroster grille.
  7. Remove the I/P upper trim pad screws.

  8. Remove the remote keyless entry module. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.
  9. Disengage the I/P insulator retainers near the glass from the upper trim pad.
  10. Remove the I/P upper trim pad.
