Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Single Tank)  or Fuel Tank Replacement (Single Tank w/5.3L (L59) Engine)  or Fuel Tank Replacement (Dual Tanks - Front)  or Fuel Tank Replacement (Dual Tanks - Rear) .
  2. Disconnect the fuel lines from the sending unit, if necessary. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
  3. Using J 44402  , remove the sending unit lock ring. See Special Tools and Equipment .

  5. Remove the lock ring, sending unit, and rubber seal. Discard the seal.
  6. Clean the sending unit sealing surfaces.
