Installation Procedure

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Install the fuel/EVAP line bundle.
  2. Install the fuel line bracket nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  3. Install the front fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Single Tank)  or Fuel Tank Replacement (Single Tank w/5.3L (L59) Engine)  or Fuel Tank Replacement (Dual Tanks - Front)  or Fuel Tank Replacement (Dual Tanks - Rear) .

  5. If equipped with 4WD, install the fuel hose/pipe clip to the bracket on the transfer case.

  7. Install the fuel hose/pipe clip to the bracket on the automatic transmission.

  9. Install the fuel pipe bracket to the bellhousing stud.
  10. Install the fuel pipe bracket nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  11. Lower the vehicle.

  13. Remove the caps from the fuel rail and EVAP pipe.
  14. Connect the EVAP canister purge pipe (2). Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
  15. Connect the fuel feed line (1) to the fuel rail. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar) .
  16. Install the fuel fill cap.
  17. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  18. Use the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks:
    1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF, for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
