Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
IMPORTANT: Perform the CKP System Variation Learn Procedure  whenever the crankshaft position sensor is removed or replaced.

  1. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L Engines) or Starter Motor Replacement (8.1L Engine) in Engine Electrical.
  2. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.

  4. Clean the area around the CKP sensor before removal in order to avoid debris from entering the engine.
  5. Remove the CKP sensor bolt.
  6. Remove the CKP sensor.
